The nationwide ‘Brass the Baton’ project came to an end on Sunday in Durham, following 11 weeks and over 90 performances involving over 5,000 musicians the length and breadth of the country.
Going the Distance
Once again the strains of the specially written music, ‘Going the Distance’, by Paul Lovatt-Cooper was heard to celebrate the final journey’s of the five special batons, which have in turn been part of no less than in 15 Olympic Torch Relay celebrations and countless Jubilee celebrations.
Brass Band musicians from all over the country travelled to Durham to help the ‘Brass the Baton’ project cross the finishing line at the International BRASS Festival.

He added: "As a lasting legacy we look forward to seeing many more performances of all five colour versions ‘Going the Distance’ into the future."
