MD Ian Porthouse welcomes Ellie to Tredegar

Welsh Champion Tredegar has welcomed their latest signing.

Ellie Carlsen joins on second euphonium from Tongwnlais Temperance. The 23-year-old student teacher is a graduate of the brass band course at the RWCM&D in Cardiff and takes on the role from Steve Parker who has joined the RAF as a musician.

Delighted

Speaking about the appointment, MD Ian Porthouse told 4BR: "We're delighted to welcome Ellie who has helped the band out on a number of occasions in the past. She is the ideal replacement for Steve who is now enjoying the start of a new musical career.

Ellie also comes in a busy time with two forthcoming CD recordings and concert performances in Stroud and Llandaff in the next few weeks before we also start our preparations for the British Open and National Championships."

Thrilled

In response Ellie said: "I'm thrilled to join Tredegar and play next to Sion Jones and the rest of a great band. I had a fantastic time with Tongwynlais and am very grateful for their support.

This is such an exciting opportunity and getting straight into the type of music Tredegar plays has been an amazing start."
