After a few months away with us trying to count all the brass that has come into the pockets of competing bands over the world, the latest 4BR Money List sees one heck of a battle brewing to claim the 2008 title.
Pounds, Pennies, Krone and Euro
4BR has been desperately making sure all the pennies, pounds, Krone and Euro are in the right place and with Brass in Concert looming the biggest bands are all in with a chance of ending the year as the biggest money earners of all.
Grimethorpe top
Currently it is Grimethorpe Colliery who tops the table, helped by their successes at the English Nationals, British Open, Europeans and Yorkshire Area.
The £6,250 they won in Stavanger was made up of a cash prize and instrument stated in the official programme to be worth 6,000 Euro so that is taken into account, as it is for Cory who picked up a cash prize of 2,500 Euro plus a 7,000 Euro instrument.

Conversion
Both these figures have been converted to good old pounds shillings and pence, as are all prizes won when the great British pound is not used.
Crunch
The crunch will surely come at Brass in Concert where if any of the top five bands in win then they will top the Money List for the year. It could get complex!
More to come
These then are the bands that have in our estimation won over £3,000 in prize money so far this season. Plenty of others have done well too and there are other contests such as Pontins, SIDDIS, Treorchy and the Scottish Open still to come where there is some big money on offer.
If you think your band has won more than these top 14 rivals then let us know...
