Another outstanding evening of solo playing was witnessed by a capacity audience at the 2008 New Zealand Champion of Champions with first time winner, Tyme Marsters taking the trophy.
Playing Concertino for Flugel by Himes, Tyme told 4BRDU, "I am really chuffed to have won and am looking forward to having a quiet beer!"
Second place went to John Lewis of St Kilda Brass on cornet with Marlborough Brass euphonium player Riki McDonnell third.
Adjudicators Peter Adams, John Rimmer and Brent Large highly commended Bb Bass champion Phil Johnston and percussionist Roanna Cooper, both from Woolston Brass.

Earlier this evening Mitchell Spence won the Junior Champion of Champion playing horn with Benjamin Cuff (baritone) second, Emma Powell (Percussion) third, and Raynor Martin (cornet) third.
