A CD just out, 'Baritones to the Fore' has just been released from America sporting a new solo piece by composer Phil Lawrence recorded by Diana Herak.
The technical tour-de-force is named 'A day in the life of Pooh and Tigger'. Phil met Pat (who is 4BR's man in the States) and Diana at his UK premier of 'Blaze' in Manchester four years ago. Last year Pat approached Phil for a ditty on the CD which Diana would record.
No doubt, I'll have to put up with the "Pooh for Baritone" jibes, but hey!, once you hear it I'm sure people will get the real bouncy Tigger section depicting Tigger boinging all over the place, and contrasting with Pooh on a melancholic day!Phil Lawrenc
Pooh jibes
Phil told 4BR: "No doubt, I'll have to put up with the "Pooh for Baritone" jibes, but hey!, once you hear it I'm sure people will get the real bouncy Tigger section depicting Tigger boinging all over the place, and contrasting with Pooh on a melancholic day!"
The album also features Katrina Marzella, Helen Tyler and Rob Richardson.
Major surgery
Meanwhile Phil is presently recovering from major surgery. "I reckon it was the Karate," he said. "I took my purple white stripe belt in early December and passed 1st Class. I've got the surgeon to sew in a new 9 pack".
Film score
But while he's convalescing the composer is working on his next film score on which he hopes to use the Fairey Band. "I hope to use the band like a huge orchestral brass battering ram section, using huge power chords for heavy impact backed with a military drum line percussion style."
