Geneva Instruments, the main sponsor of the European Brass Band Championships in Stavanger is to offer two lucky visitors to its trade stand at Stavanger Concert Hall the chance to win two tickets for all the main contest and Gala Concert events.
Bring a mouthpiece
The first two people to arrive at the Geneva Instruments Trade Stand after it opens at 2.00pm on Friday 9th May will receive the tickets — although you must bring along at least one mouthpiece able to fit one of the Geneva range of instruments that will be on display, and answer a simple Geneva related question.
Question
On what model of Geneva cornet does Black Dyke Band principal cornet player Richard Marshall play on?
To make it even easier — it is either a Cardinal or a Signature.
Quartet of Cardinals
Everyone who visits the stand will also be invited to register their band to enter the 'The Quartet of Cardinals' instrument draw, which could see your band given a free set of traditional quartet instruments — two cornets, horn and euphonium.
The prize is part of Geneva's 25th anniversary campaign called 'Quarter Century of #ProgressinPlay' and is open to brass bands worldwide — including anyone who is also going to the 2025 British Open Spring Festival in Blackpool this weekend.
Entries on-line
Entries are also open on-line from 9th May 2025 via: www.genevainstruments.com where full terms and conditions will be published.

Remarkable progress
Speaking about the twin initiatives, Vincent F Eckerman Executive Director Geneva Instruments told 4BR: "The Quarter Century #Progressinplay campaign is celebrating the remarkable progress made in the quality, performance and progressive sound of our instruments since 2000.
We owe many of the improvements in recent years to Geneva's Performance and Development Artists in Black Dyke Band and many of Geneva's internationally known artists such as Glenn Van Looy who have provided the input and feedback to many of the ergonomic and aesthetic improvements since 2022."
