With their forthcoming 150th anniversary concert and busy 2027 schedule to look forward to, Tredegar Band has welcomed a quartet of new signings.
Signings
It sees the return of former players Danny Winder on flugel and Natalie Gibson on first horn, whilst the experienced Simon Platford joins the cornet section and Jake Bartlett comes in on Bb tuba.
Danny most recently played with Tongwynlais, whilst Natalie has enjoyed playing with Tylorstown. Simon made his contest debut with the band at the British Open, whilst Jake, who is currently studying at the RWCM&D in Cardiff joins from Aldbourne.
Welcome
Speaking to 4BR, MD, Ian Porthouse said: "It's always great to welcome back former players to the band, especially with the return of Danny and Natalie. Simon's signing has also added quality and experience to the cornet section, and we're thrilled to welcome such a talent as Jake to the bass section.
Our thanks also go to Carole Flannery-Davies, Evan Key, Ed Falloon and Will Norman who will always have a special link with us."
150th stage
Ian added that the quartet is also looking forward to the band's busy schedule — starting with that 150th anniversary concert on Sunday 22nd November when they will be joined by a host of former players for the celebration event.
"We've had a great response from former players all wishing to join us and we are hoping to get a special version of our signature march 'Tredegar Castle' published for the occasion. If you want to be a part and squeeze on stage with us, we would be thrilled."
