The National Youth Brass Band of Wales will give performances in the north, west and east of Wales this weekend under the baton of Musical Director Philip Harper.
Established in 1982, the current 2026 cohort of 59 players will be led by Musical Director Philip Harper alongside featured guest soloist, Tom Hutchinson.
Concerts
Friday, Saturday and Sunday
The opening concert will take place on Friday 21st August at the Pritchard Jones Hall in Bangor (7.30pm), before they head to St David's in Pembrokeshire the following day for a concert at its famous cathedral (7.30pm).
The final performance takes place on Sunday 23rd August at 2.00pm at The Riverfront Theatre in Newport.
Ambitious programme
The ambitious programme of music will feature Richard Blackford's 'Orbital', the major new work from the award-winning composer that is based on Samantha Harvey's 2024 Booker Prize winning novel.
Tom Hutchinson, principal cornet of Black Dyke Band will perform the imposing Ernest Tomlinson 'Cornet Concerto', whilst there is a rare chance to hear Eric Ball's 'Sunset Rhapsody', Tom Davoren's 'Valaisia Variants', Philip Sparke's 'A Celtic Suite' and a trio of works from Cory's Brass in Concert 'King Kong' programme.
