Five Lakes Silver Band has confirmed that Andrew Wainwright has agreed to become a Composer in Residence
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Andrew will be joining Paul Lovatt-Cooper to form an incredible tandem of composers for the band going forward."
Thrilled
In response Andrew said: "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with Five Lakes Silver Band in this way.
I've watched the development of the band over the past few years and the remarkable progress made under Musical Director Christopher Ward to the point where they are rightly talked about as one of the most exciting and progressive brass bands.
We have already enjoyed a positive relationship in collaborating on several projects and I look forward to a long and fruitful partnership."
Warm welcome
In offering his warm welcome, MD Christopher Ward told 4BR: "Andrew is an enormously talented composer who has developed his own voice as a writer. We've had a great relationship over the years and felt like this was the next step.
The band has already commissioned a few pieces, including 'Metamorphosis on Finlandia', which has been featured on our latest recording. 'Enduring Faith' is another commission recently premiered which will be featured on our new recording this spring.
He added: "With more exciting ideas in the pipeline, the future is bright, and we are looking forward to a tremendous partnership together."
