The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB) has announced a three-year partnership with British Army Music.
Building on the success of its partnership with Royal Marines Band Service, the new venture will feature a long-term series of exciting performance and educational projects, starting with a joint concert in December.
World class musicians
Speaking about the link, Mark Bromley, NYBBGB CEO told 4BR: "As an organisation we strive to give young musicians access to world-class musical opportunities, and this partnership represents our commitment to that.
British Army Music is the UK's largest employer of professional musicians, with opportunities to perform brass band music at the highest level. The partnership will give our young people the opportunity to work and learn with aspirational mentors."
Exciting prospect
In response, Corps Bandmaster, WO Class One Jonathan Spencer, added: "This wonderful partnership also represents an opportunity for Army musicians to work alongside and invest in some of the finest young brass players in the country. As a brass player myself, this is an incredibly exciting prospect."
The link further strengthens existing connections — ones that have seen young NYBBGB alumni such as current Musician Bobby Corkish follow his studies at the RNCM go on and occupy the first horn seat in the full time professional British Army Band Tidworth.
