Whit and wisdom fuel Comber Brass future

A great youth band workshop day and a trip to the Whit Friday contests is fuelling the future plans for Coomber Brass

Coomber
The event was a great success

Comber Brass from Northern Ireland has enjoyed hosting a hugely successful youth band workshop.

33 young brass and percussion players attended the event led by Dr Jonathan Corry, supported by local tutors Louise Lynch, Phil Tinney, Robin Clinton and Wesley Thompson, the MD of Comber Brass.

It featured warm up demonstrations, full band and sectional rehearsals before concluding with a short performance for friends and family.

Outstanding

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band is grateful to Ards and North Down Borough Council for their financial support for the workshop.

Feedback from attendees, parents and grandparents has been outstanding and we are now looking forward to the launch of Comber Youth Brass Band in September."

In the meantime, the band is finalising plans for its forthcoming trip to Saddleworth for the Whit Friday march contests next month. It is believed that this is the first time the band has performed outside of Northern Ireland for over 50 years.
