The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has confirmed further details of its Summer Course to be held at Oundle School in Northants between the 2nd and 9th August.
It will once again be directed by Martyn Brabbins, the former Music Director of English National Opera and the Chief Conductor of the Malmo Symphony Orchestra.
He will be joined by guest soloist, tenor horn star Tim De Maeseneer, whose recent solo performances in the UK and Europe, and 2025 CD release, 'Beyond the Paradox' have received widespread critical acclaim.
End of course concert
With the theme of 'Celebration', the end of course concert will be held at the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall at the Royal College of Music on Saturday 9th August at 5.00pm.
Tributes to established brass band composers as well as showcases for the exciting new generation of writers for the medium will be featured.
Tim De Maeseneer will perform Edward Gregson's 'Horn Concerto' — 'Three Gods'.
World premieres
The new generation will be represented with four World Premieres — a trio from the NYBBGB Young Composer prize winners, Nina Martin ('Betwys-y-Coed'), Will Everitt ('Variations on an Enclosure') and Samuel Thackray ('Nocturnal Dances'), and a new work from Daniel Hall entitled, 'Shapeshifter'.
Iconic works by Edmund Rubbra and Herbert Howells will be heard as will part of Elgar Howarth's remarkable arrangement of Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition'.
