Over 100 youngsters recently took part in special 'Wand Workshops' hosted by Brass Bands England and the Brass Band Conductors Association (BBCA) at the National Youth Championships of Great Britain in Corby.
With the assistance of the British Army Band Tidworth playing Grieg's 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' and with guidance from BBCA's James Holt, John Fricker (above) and Tom Hancock, the budding conductors learned all about the 'magic patterns' required to produce amazing musical results.
Superb event
Two workshops were held over the weekend of the championships, with BBCA Chair James Holt commenting: "It was a superb event, and we are grateful to BBE for the chance to be involved.
The way the young musicians engaged with the opportunity to conduct was incredible. My thanks also go to the British Army Band Tidworth for helping deliver a great project that we are sure will inspire potential future brass band conductors."
It was a totally magical experience for all involved. It was amazing. Bravo and thank you to all involvedparent
