The brass band world has been shocked to hear of the death of the popular bandsman Mark Quick, the respected BBb flat tuba player with Bodmin Town Band.
Remarkable man
Issuing a statement, Musical Director John Maines said: "Mark was a remarkable man, a highly committed bandsman and a fine player who was always ready to volunteer for the good of the band and his playing colleagues.
He worked tremendously hard behind the scenes of Bodmin Town Band and was at the forefront of many innovations.
His dedication shone through in everything he did and his personality rubbed off on everyone who met him."

Commitment
Mark started his playing career in 1980 when he joined the Hatherleigh Silver Band — first on flugel and then soprano. A mark of his commitment saw him then make his first excursion to the tuba team before returning to soprano!
After 33 years Mark joined Bodmin Town in 2013 on Eb bass and also took up the post of Band Secretary. When the band needed a BBb bass player Mark, in typical fashion, was the first volunteer to switch instruments.
His humour was legendary with his famous 'Dad jokes' and his permanent smile was infectious. He was also immensely proud of his family and especially the banding achievements of his daughters.
Mark will be sadly missed by all who knew him as a fine player, a fine person and above all a fine friendJohn Maines

John Maines added: "Mark will be sadly missed by all who knew him as a fine player, a fine person and above all a fine friend.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Marian, daughters Jasmine, and Emily and his future son-in-law Paul."
