RNCM Brass Band Festival Artistic Director, Paul Hindmarsh has spoken to 4BR to express his thanks and pride in all those involved in a weekend of outstanding music making in Manchester.

Critical acclaim

Outstanding concert performances from leading UK bands Foden's, Fairey, Brighouse & Rastrick, Black Dyke, Tredegar and Cory, as well as from the RNCM Junior and RNCM Brass Bands, Greater Manchester Youth Brass Band, various ensembles and soloists, was received with widespread critical acclaim especially from the encouragingly large audiences that attended.

The event also gained extensive media coverage with a picture image (above) featured in 'The Daily Telegraph'.

Thanks

"My thanks go to everyone — from the bands and performers to the wonderful stage at the RNCM led by Paul Massey,"he said.

"What a festival! There was a large receptive audience and a fantastic atmosphere all weekend. That was down to all the work put in by the bands, conductors and performers on substantial, challenging repertoire."

Privileged

He added: "I feel immensely privileged to be able to invite world class performers to this festival for them to showcase what the best British bands are capable of in terms of musical insight and technical skill.

It also shows that there is a growing international audience for a festival of this scope, and it was pleasure to welcome so many people from across the banding globe this year.

I hope to see everyone and more once again next year. Given what we heard over the weekend, I think it's going to be cracker."
