New combo lead at combo band

The experienced duo of Phillipa Edwards and Jamie Lawson take lead roles with Glenferrie Brass in Melbourne

Glenferrie Brass, formed of the combined Hawthorn and Kew Bands in Melbourne, Australia, has announced the appointment of a new Musical Director and Principal Cornet.

Duo

The experienced Phillipa Edwards is the former conductor of the Footscray-Yarraville City Band for over 14 years. She also has extensive experience with concert bands, stage bands, symphony orchestras, choirs and small ensembles.

Joining her is husband Jamie Lawson, one of Australia's most respected players, including over 20 years as principal cornet at the Footscray-Yarraville City Band, the Royal Australian Navy Band and extensive freelance performances on trumpet, cornet and flugel.

Debuts

He is a six time Victorian cornet solo champion and has twice claimed the prestigious 'Champion of Champions' title.

He has also won two National Championship titles and various State Championship prizes with Northern Brass. He is currently working with the City of Greater Dandenong Band.

The duo will make their debuts with the band at the forthcoming State Championships in Ballarat on Saturday 17th August.
