Besson Artist Jamie Hood recently brought together a talented group of brass players for a special fundraising 'Brass Spectacular' concert in Basel in Switzerland
Classics
Players from the USA, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, German, UK and New Zealand came together for two days of rehearsals in preparation for a concert that feature a number of classic Salvation Army compositions, such as 'The Call of the Righteous', 'Resurgum' and 'Fire in the Blood'.
Mixed in with them were 'The Light of the World', 'Guardian of my Soul' and the march 'Celebration', whilst Black Dyke's solo euphonium, Daniel Thomas gave a stunning performance of Robert Redhead's 'Euphony'.
An appreciative audience helped to raise over 2500 Swiss Francs towards a new brass programme that will be undertaken at the Basel 1 Salvation Army Corps.
Wonderful project
He told 4BR: "My thanks go to all the great players who supported the event — such as Daniel, Martin Britt, Murray Borthwick, Paul Bennett, Lauren Chinn and Paul Woodward to name but a few.
Their response was outstanding and so was that of the audience who helped raise much needed funds for a wonderful project."

Busy
Jamie has been enjoying a busy summer, and following the initiative headed to Leeuwarden in The Netherlands to be part of the Allan Withington Brass Band Summer School, before heading to Switzerland and then back to Scotland, where his children were taking part in the annual National Youth Brass Band of Scotland course.
