City of Bradford MD Lee Skipsey is currently in Japan working with Tokyo City Concert Brass, and enjoying every moment of the new experience.
Lee was asked by Richard Evans to take his place this year, and recently flew to Japan to carry on the inspirational work he has been undertaking with them for the past 16 years.
Amazing experience
"It's already been an amazing experience,"Lee told 4BR. "Richard was unable to make the trip this year and I couldn't say no to the request. He really is a legend in the country.
I've had such a warm welcome from my hosts and the enthusiasm and commitment is incredible, with such a respect for tradition and an appreciation of the British brass band style. I'm extremely humbled by how I have been treated."

First class approach
Lee revealed that he has been working on music by Philip Sparke and Paul Lovatt-Cooper, as well as the classic test-piece, 'Le Roi d'Y's' and a typical Richard Evans swagger march, 'The Wizard'.
He added: "The approach has been first class — even after we heard of earthquake on the other side of the country and to prepare for a possible tsunami. Music in your life can bring remarkable experiences, and this has been one."
