Art exhibition to shed dusk light on Whit Friday in Saddleworth

A major arts exhibition will be on show over the Whit Friday weekend — adding a different dimension to the competitive music making.

Whit Friday
The exhibition looks to transform the space into Dobcross Square at dusk

A major brass band art exhibition is currently on show in the heart of Whit Friday contesting country — and aims to be the perfect accompaniment to the day.

We Play in Time

'We Play in Time' is a photographic exhibition by artist Simon Buckley about Saddleworth and Dobcross Silver Band. Open until the end of the month at the Weavers Factory Loom Shop — a Grade II listed building in Saddleworth, it combines low-light images, sound installations, voices and video.

The exhibition looks to transform the space into Dobcross Square at dusk, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the Whit Friday brass band experience.

He has also recorded a piece of music inspired by the history of the band and photographed Saddleworth at dusk, revealing a silent and hidden world.
