An intriguing musical coda has emerged from the pen of 'Dear Cassandra' composer Ludovic Neurohr following the performances of his work at the 2019 European Brass Band Championships in Montreux.
The composition saw the Swiss composer pose the question, "Where are we going with brass band music?", although he has now revealed his own question of, "What do I need to write for it?"has found a personal answer in the form of a short new work entitled, 'P.S.' — which is only 10 seconds long.
Now at peace
As he revealed to 4BR: "'Dear Cassandra' was the beginning of the question. So now this piece 'P.S.' (Post Scriptum) is just stating what I'm feeling after a month of reflection. I guess this is not a revelation, but I live in a much more comfortable mood when composing.
'P.S.' shows that I'm really now at peace. It is only 10 seconds of music but it was 10 seconds that I felt I needed to write especially after the wonderful performances of the bands."
He added: "I finally found out more than I expected and the complexity of writing for such an important event has helped me to move forward in my mind."
