The 7th Midlands Beer & Brass on the Grass Entertainment contest will be taking place on Saturday 11th May, where hopefully the sun will be shining for listeners to enjoy a cracking line-up of competitors accompanied by the wonderful taste of a libation or two…
Venue
The event has now moved to the Victoria Farm Caravan site, Highcross in Claybrooke Magna, near Lutterworth (LE17 5AU), which is situated just off the A5 road.
It comprises four main sections for First/Second Section competitors, Third/Fourth Section bands, Unregistered ensembles and a new Training Band event.
Each winning band takes home a £100 first prize plus a trophy, with additional prizes for the podium finishers, 'Most Entertaining Band of the Day', solo awards, best bass section and a special prize to the youngest player.
The adjudicators are Dave Lea (fresh from his European triumph in Montreux) and Rob Stew, both of whom have supported this contest from its first year, with Darren Lea John Randle judging the Training Bands.
Wonderful way
A spokesperson told 4BR. "The event continues to provide a wonderful way for bands to showcase their talents at a great venue.
We are grateful for the excellent support we get from sponsors such as First Brass Instruments and with the added attraction of being able to sit in the sun (hopefully!) and enjoy great brass bands with something nice to sip is an ideal way to spend a Saturday!"
