Whilst students enjoy their well earned holiday breaks over the summer, many will not want to miss out on still playing in their university brass band.
With that in mind the UniBrass Foundation, keen to keep people playing over the long summer months, has announced its first summer festival entitled, 'Brass in the Park'.
Great way
It will take place on Saturday 1st September at Oxford's Merton Field, and the organsiers hope it will be a great way to round off their break by keeping their banding skills in trim in the process.
Everyone will be welcome as well — student or not, as the invite to perform is open to the whole of the brass band community — and it's all free too!
As well as the first ever UniBrass scratch band, the Foundation will also be putting on food and refreshments to turn this park job into a great day out. With a brass band, BBQ and hopefully some sun, what more could you want!
We want to give everyone a chance to do something fun and stay involved in university music. I hope to see you all there!Thomas Hicken
Do something fun
Thomas Hicken, the UniBrass Foundation trustee organising the event told 4BR: "We realised that people often miss their brass banding over the summer, with all the university rehearsals stopping until October.
We want to give everyone a chance to do something fun and stay involved in university music. I hope to see you all there!"
Players of all ages and standard are invited to join members of the UniBrass Foundation, and current contest organising committee to play.
