Pontardulais Town Band is certainly looking towards the future with its long term investment in young playing talent.
The organisation's Junior Band has produced countless players who have gone on to play with the senior outfit and such has been the success of a recent Open Day that demand for instruments to play is exceeding supply.
Demand and supply
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We've been delighted at the number of youngsters wishing to play an instrument in our Beginners Group and Junior Band but it has meant we have run out of instruments!
We're therefore appealing for anyone with an instrument in their garage, attic or bedroom cupboard to get in touch and donate it to us. We can promise that it will find a great new home and that it will hopefully inspire a youngster to start a lifetime of brass band playing."

In need
They added: "We are also in need of music stands, instrument cases and music folders to update our current bedraggled collection which after many years of use is looking very worse for wear and held together with sticky tape and a prayer!"
The Pontardulais Town Band and Junior Band participate in many local events and are proud to represent their village at local and national competitions.
Currently the Junior Band is taking part in the Tesco's 'Bags of Help' initiative, which they hope will gain extra funding.
