The whole of Welsh banding has offered its condolences to the family of Terry Hill, a much respected cornet player with the Tylorstown Band, who was tragically killed in a car accident on his way home from rehearsal last week.
Dedicated
The 45 year old father of two was a popular member of the band who was an integral part of their rise to contesting prominence over the last few years — including being a proud flugel player in their brace of National title wins.
Over the years he had also played with a number of other south Wales bands and was regarded as a dedicated, committed bandsman who made friends wherever he went.
Devastated
The Tylorstown Band stated: "We are devastated by the news and out thoughts and prayers have been with his wife Jo and children Katie and Iwan.
His dedication and enthusiasm was always evident and infectious, as a cracking flugel soloist or cornet player. He will be greatly missed not only for his great playing but also as a much loved friend to all."

Much loved
In a statement released through South Wales Police, his family said: "Terry was a much loved and devoted husband, father, son and brother.
He was a pillar not only to his family but the wider community having been a member of his much-loved band Tylorstown Band and a coach of the Bridgend Athletic under-15s rugby team.
The family is devastated by this tragic event and Terry will never be replaced. Terry was dedicated to his family and friends in all aspects of his life and will be greatly missed by everyone he knew."
Funeral details have yet to be announced.
