Euro soloists giving dual test for title challenge

Soloists wishing to try and claim the 7th European Soloist title in Lille can now get their entries in for a twin test of character.

EBBA

The European Brass Band Association has announced that entries can now be submitted by performers who wish to participate in the 7th European Soloist Competition for Brass & Percussion Instruments, to be held in Lille, France from the 26th-28th April 2016.

Two tests

The event will form an integral part of the European Brass Band Championship Festival with competitors who are selected to perform in Lille giving two performances (set-piece and own-choice) with piano.

The top three soloists chosen by the adjudication panel will go forward to the competition final to be held on Thursday 28th April, when they will perform with Brass Band Nord Pas de Calais.

Excited by changes

EBBA President Ulf Rosenberg told 4BR: "We are very excited about the new format for the 2016 soloist competition, which is based on feedback and analysis of previous competitions.

By having the number of competitors invited to Lille limited to 30, we can be sure that the standard will be very high especially as we are also giving the soloists the opportunity to play both an own choice piece and a set-piece."
