The stage of the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London will showcase the world premiere of 'Dark Arteries' this week.
Musical boundaries
The project featuring dancers from the Rambert Ballet & Tredegar Town who will be conducted by Ian Porthouse crosses cultural, historical and musical boundaries interwoven with stories of the brass band movement and the miners industry.
The thirtieth anniversary of the 1984 Miner's strike, is taken as a starting point for the creation of this contemporary piece of music and dance, that looks forward as well as back to the 1980s.
Media spotlight
The music is composed by Gavin Higgins who comes from both a mining family and whom played in brass bands.
In advance of the premiere which commences this evening and runs until Saturday, Tredegar travelled to London on Monday for more intensive rehearsals with the exciting new concept creating plenty of media spotlight.
