Black Dyke principal cornet Richard Marshall will once again lead his ‘Cornet Spotlight’ workshop at the forthcoming Black Dyke Festival at Leeds Town Hall on Sunday 17th May.
It will be the sixth time that Richard has spearheaded the popular event – with players from all around the country making the trip to benefit from a morning of top class tuition.
New commission and classic treat
This year, there will be an additional treat, with a cornet feature played by delegates appearing in the afternoon concert alongside ‘Double’ champion Black Dyke. The classic ‘Trumpets Wild’ will be sure to bring the house down.
Richard has also commissioned a new work from the pen of Jonathan Bates to be worked on too – with ‘From the Depths’ specially composed for the day.
Most enjoyable
“The ‘Cornet Spotlight’ is one of the most enjoyable workshop days I undertake with Black Dyke,” Richard told 4BR. “The response from delegates from all over the country is simply fantastic and the enthusiasm is infectious.”
There will be a £5 charge for the morning event, unless you are a Yorkshire Youth Band member, who gets in for free!
