The Yorkshire Imperial David Urquhart Travel Band is getting ready to join musical forces with the Military Wives Choir (York) to help raise funds for the charity ‘Help for Heroes’.
Inspiring work
All profits from two Christmas concerts, one in Morley Town Hall and the other at Castleford Civic Centre (on the weekend of the 5th & 6th) will be donated to the charity to support their inspiring work.
Band Chairman Mark Tweedle told 4BR: “No-one who has seen the remarkable work of the specialist rehabilitation centres such as Headley Court can be in any doubt that this is a most worthwhile cause.”
Spans the world
The Military Wives Choir (York) is composed entirely of wives of serving military personnel and is part of a Military Wives Choir network, which now spans the world.
Founded in 2013 following the high profile media success of the original choir concept conducted by Gareth Malone, the York Choir now helps women share the enjoyment and pride that comes from singing together.
Debut signing
The concerts also provide a first outing for Imps new trombone player Matt Douglass.
Matt has relocated to Yorkshire from Hampshire where he was a member of Michelmersh Silver. He takes the second trombone seat, allowing Kyle Blake to step up to the principal chair.
