The Board of Brass Bands England has announced that they do not intend to give up their fight against Kapitol Promotions and will continue to operate the British Brass Band Registry.
Loyal supporters of BBBR are urged to have their BBBR cards re-franked when they become due during the summer and to therefore avoid making any payments to Kapitol Promotions and BBP in the futureBBE Board
In a statement they have outlined their plans as follows:
"Following many months of passionate debate across the country the Board of Brass Bands England wishes to reiterate that the British Brass Band Registry continues to operate and will continue to do so.
Bands in England are aware that in order to enter the Regional Championships they have been forced by Kapitol Promotions Ltd and Regional committees to sign up to Brass Band Players Ltd, but this is now highlighting problems that have never been encountered before.
BBP is not an accredited registry but a registry for one series of contests only and is not working in liaison with the British Brass Band Registry. We now have many players registered with two registries, which could in the long term lead to turmoil within the registry system.
Following the Regional Championships many bands will not need their BBP cards as Brass Bands England understands that the majority of contests will accept BBBR cards for their registration system.
Loyal supporters of BBBR are urged to have their BBBR cards re-franked when they become due during the summer and to therefore avoid making any payments to Kapitol Promotions and BBP in the future.
This in turn will give bands the opportunity to continue lobbying their Regional committees, who, up until now, have ignored the wishes of many of their member bands. If players sign with BBP for the regional contest it will not affect their registration with BBBR, therefore they do not need to cancel any card with BBBR.
The Board of Brass Bands England, owners of BBBR, will not allow Kapitol to take over the registry of players in England without a fight. The battle continues and bands are encouraged to lobby their Regional committees to get this ruling overturned before next year’s Regional contests."
