Hot on the heels of their victory at the Brass in Concert Championship, Leyland Band has announced the appointment of Leigh Baker as their new MD.

He was previously resident conductor at Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, as well as leading South Yorkshire Police Band to numerous contesting successes.
Thrilled
Leyland Band Administrator, Iain McKnight told 4BR: "We are thrilled that Leigh has accepted the position of Musical Director. The band was thoroughly impressed with his work in rehearsal and with his attitude and professionalism."
He added: "I initially contacted Leigh to take a few rehearsals in preparation for our Brass in Concert appearance, and he ended up contributing a significant amount of music and ideas to what turned out to be the winning programme! What better start could you ask for?"
The band is very ambitious with such a forward looking approach, and I can’t wait to get started. I’m also full of ideas for new music to enrich the band’s repertoireLeigh Baker
Looking forward
