Fodens take Tameside Whit Friday title for the eighth year in a row.

The reigning British Open Champion, Fodens has been declared Tameside Whit Friday Champion for the eighth consecutive year.

Wins

With wins at Carrbrook, Droylsden, Stalybridge, Stalybridge Celtic and Upper Mossley and runner up placings at Denton and Hurst Cross, they took the £2,500 top prize ahead of rivals Fairey and third placed Leyland.

Fodens racked up an impressive £6,525 in total prize money from fives wins in Tameside and their sole foray into Saddleworth where they came 3rd at Scouthead.

Runner up

Runner up this year was Fairey who put together a fine run of performances to bag the £1,000 second prize after posting a win at Audenshaw to go with a whole batch of second paces around the Tameside circuit. Their overall prize money for the night topped £3,400.

Third

Third spot and £750 was taken by Leyland, who won at Denton and Hurst Cross to take their night’s winnings to £2,200.

Local champions

The much sought after local prizes saw Ashton under Lyne cap a wonderful evening’s work by bagging the £750 on offer to the winners to take their winnings on the night to £2,500 – which included a victory against Fodens, Fairey and Leyland at Heyrod.

Runners up were Glossop Old who took £600 to bag overall winnings of £1,100 with third place and £400 going to Stalybridge who pocketed a very impressive total of £1,135.
