Les Neish to head North

Tuba star Les Neish will be doing a bit of musical outreach work next week — in Elgin and Aberdeen...

As part of Northern Counties Brass Band Association's continuing Youth Development Programme, tuba star Les Neish, is set to appear in a series of masterclasses and concerts in Elgin and Aberdeen next weekend.

Les will feature as guest soloist with the Bon Accord Silver Band at the 2009 Moray Spirit of Brass Festival on Friday 12th June, whilst on the Saturday he is joined by local young brass players in a masterclass at Elgin Town Hall commencing at 10.00 am.

The events are free and is open to players of all abilities and ages.

After a quick lunch, Les will travel to Aberdeen to host a 'Low Brass Workshop' in the Summerhill Music Centre, Aberdeen from 2.30pm – 4.30pm.

The workshop is geared towards euphonium, baritone and bass players of mixed ability, where Les will guide players through breathing, performance techniques, stage presentation and specifically for bass players, pedal notes and intonation.

Again this event will be free of charge and will be open to anyone who wishes to watch Les work with his young volunteers.
