Results: Weston Super Mare Contest

There was a fine turn out by the sea in Weston on Sunday with Abergavenny picking up the top honours.

The Abergavenny Band conducted by Gareth Ritter rounded off a fine weekend of contesting for themselves by taking the Championship Section honours at Weston on Sunday.

Reprise

They reprised their performance of Martin Ellerby’s ‘Chivalry’ which the day before had seen them take 3rd place at the SEWBBA Contest in Ebbw Vale to pip Kidlington Concert Brass and their performance of ‘Variations on an Enigma’ and take the £200 top prize. A further point behind came Aldbourne with their rendition of ‘Pageantry’.

Second Section

In the Second Section victory was claimed by Cinderford who took the £150 top prize ahead of City of Bristol and Phoenix Brass (Crewekerne), whilst Crosskeys upped their form from Ebbw Vale the day before to take the Third Section honours ahead of Avonbank and Bath Spa.

Fourth Section

In the Fourth Section, it was another band who upped their form from the previous day as Corus (Port Talbot) took the winners cheque ahead of Pontypool Brass and Totnes.
