The 10th Brighouse Festival of Brass starting on the weekend of Friday 3rd July promises to be as memorable as last year’s event, organisers have told 4BR.
Richard Marshall
The Charity Weekend is organised by The Brighouse Lions and the Festival begins on the Friday evening in the Central Methodist Church when Marsden Silver Band will perform a concert with guest soloist, Richard Marshall.
Saturday
Saturday will see a Youth Day in the Ebenezer Methodist Church, Bailiff Bridge incorporating the new Brighouse Youth Solo Championships including sections for Under 11, Under 14 and Under 17.
In the evening the Annual Gala Concert will take place in the Central Methodist Church featuring Easington Colliery Band, stars of Channel 4 TV’s 'Secret Millionaire'.
A co-incidence is that secret millionaire Carl Hopkins lives in Brighouse and will be present at this year’s Festival.

David Horsfield, the organiser along with his Lions International colleagues told 4BR: "Since the Festival’s creation in the year 2000, a great amount of money has been raised for charity and each year we try to do something different."
Full entry
The entry list is now full at 25 bands including Hammonds Saltaire making its first appearance. They will be pushing the other strong entries hard to take the Yamaha 'Xeno' Cornet for the best Principal Cornet on the day.
An extra sponsor this year is Weyland Roberts of New Mill who is donating a trophy for the best Principal Cornet in memory of the late Stuart Broadbent, who was a great friend of the Brighouse Festival.
He, along with his wife Yvonne and Brigitte Matthews have also donated cash prizes for the Contest and Solo Contest.
