Hobbins heads for Flixton

Alan Hobbins has become the new MD at the Flixton Band.

Flixton

The Flixton Band has announced the official appointment of Alan Hobbins as their MD.

Experience

Alan made his debut with the band at the Butlins Mineworkers Contest and has since agreed to accept the position of MD on a full time basis. It is hoped that this partnership will flourish and together the team will carry on progress up through the sections.

Delight

Speaking on the appointment, Band Manager Paul Thomson commented to 4BR: "We are delighted that Alan has accepted the MD position after our success at the area, in which we just missed out on a place at Harrogate. This appointment has already seen great amount of enthusiasm from the band enabling its continued growth through the rankings, whilst adding that extra sparkle."

New Faces

The band also welcome a number of new faces who have recently joined the ranks. Lynne Campbell joins the band on solo horn due to Mona Byskov recently giving birth to a new baby boy. Originally from Scotland, Lynn currently studies at music Salford University previously playing with Campbeltown Band.

Strengthening the cornet section Rachel McAvoy and Becky Smith join on 3rd cornet and Ian Baguely joins on percussion.
