New Wellies

Wellington (Telford) welcome some new players to the ranks ahead of their regional challenge.

The Wellington (Telford) Band is looking forward to their first ever appearance in the Midlands Second Section area contest on Sunday, boosted by a host of new signings.

Boost

Amongst them are Dave Maplestone on soprano and Chris Jones on trombone.

Dave is a well known conductor and musician in the Midlands Area and Chris is currently a member of the NYBB.

The band is also delighted to welcome back Mark Phillips on solo horn and his son Joshua on 2nd horn after a 6 month break.

Mark told 4BR: "This is a very exciting time to be re-joining the band as we really believe we can do well in the 2nd Section for our first time. MD Steve Curtis has made rehearsing the piece even more enjoyable, so we are looking forward to performing on Sunday."

More new signings

Other new signings include Hollie Davis, Ray Hyde, Paul Kelly and John Harris on cornet, Glyn Wilkes on horn, John Teague on bass trombone, Gary Davies on Bb Bass and Will Minty on percussion.

Cambrian Brass

May 16 • We're always happy to hear from anyone interested in joining a friendly and supportive band, whether you're returning to banding or looking for a new challenge.


Delph Band

May 15 • We are seeking an enthusiastic and musically skilled Associate Conductor to lead and develop our band alongside our current Musical Director Phil Goodwin. . Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-10pm at Delph Band Club.


Tintwistle Band

May 15 • We have a vacancy for a soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up we would love to get this seat filled!. We rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom in Tintwistle, under the baton of our superb MD, Jim Henson.
