Mnozil Brass return to Melbourne

The Melbourne International Festival of Brass confirm artists for 2009.

Melbourne International Festival of Brass

The 2009 Melbourne International Festival of Brass (MIFB) kicks off on Sunday 27 September, and will finish with a concert featuring Mnozil Brass on Saturday 3 October.

Artists

Artists will include:
Jeff Nelsen — horn with Canadian Brass
Mnozil Brass
Chuck Findley — legendary LA trumpet player
Vienna Trombone Quartet
Australian Brass Quintet
Ross Irwin All-Star Youth Big Band

Change of Venue

The MIFB will be returning to the Australian National Academy of Music as its main venue for 2009.

Change in Focus

Festival organiser, John Collinson, has advised the first few days of the festival will feature sessions aimed specifically at secondary students and teachers.

Jazz

For those wanting something different, the MIFB also plans to be running a jazz club each night, hopefully at the Limerick hotel, though this is still to be confirmed.

Trade Displays

Trade displays will return to being in the main hall at the Academy, similar to years 2003 — 2006 when the MIFB was held at this particular venue.

Festival passes and tickets to feature concerts will be on sale very soon.
