Following Alan Duguid’s reluctant decision to step down as MD due to changes in his work and personal commitments, Woodbridge Excelsior Band has announced that with Alan’s help they have appointed Graham Shaw as Musical Director.
Experience
Hailing from the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, Graham began his playing career on cornet with The Rochdale Band and with other local bands including Wingates, which led to numerous TV, radio and recording engagements.
Later, on flugel, Graham enjoyed a successful period in the 80’s with the Fairey Band, winning the National Championships, British Open and BBC Band of the Year. In recent years Graham has turned his hand to musical direction and conducting, achieving good results with a number of Midlands bands.
The band is very much looking forward to working with Graham as we begin preparations for the 2009 Areas and would like to record our grateful thanks to Alan DuguidWoodbridge Excelsior
