Cornish challengers open their doors ahead of their Scottish Open assault.

Camborne

This week, Camborne Town Band are rehearsing with their MD Kevin Mackenzie, for the Scottish Open Brass Band Championships.

Preperation

Kevin, and Professional Music Advisor Dr. Robert Childs, have been preparing the band over the last few months for their performance of Kenneth Downie's 'St Magnus' at the Perth Concert Hall on Saturday.

Open rehearsal

On Thursday evening (27th November), Kevin and the band will be holding an open rehearsal in the Main Hall at Camborne Science & Community College which will begin at 8.00 pm.

The band hope it will be an ideal opportunity to hear the band play the piece before their trip to Perth and also see how the band prepares for contests.

Fly

The band fly to Scotland from Newquay the following morning and return home on Sunday evening, although percussionist, Jeremy Taylor, will be flying down to Bristol on the Sunday morning to perform with the Helston School Jazz Orchestra in the National Concert Band Festival in Chepstow that afternoon.

People's Millions

The band also hope that people will pick up the phone on Tuesday to vote for the bandroom project and get Camborne Town Band the £50,000 lottery money from ITV's People's Millions 2008. See www.cambornetownband.com for more information.
