The YBS Band has announced that Chris Gommersall has joined the band on principal trombone.
Pedigree
Chris who has been studying at the Royal Academy of Music joins from the Leyland Band, and has an impressive pedigree that YBS believe further strengthens the ranks.
Chris has been a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year and also previously won the Warwick Music/The Valve National Trombone competition.
He is an outstanding player and without doubt one of the best principal trombones around. He adds to a very strong line up of soloists and has already made quite an impression in the bandroomMD, Morgan Griffiths
Outstanding
YBS Musical Director Morgan Griffiths told 4BR: "We're very excited about having Chris join the team. He is an outstanding player and without doubt one of the best principal trombones around. He adds to a very strong line up of soloists and has already made quite an impression in the bandroom. We hope he will have a long and distinguished career as a part of the YBS Band."
Thanks
Chris takes over from Richard Walker and Band Manager Dave Long added: "We would like to thank Rich for his commitment to YBS. He's a top bloke and he had to drive quite a distance from Nottingham to get to rehearsals as well as holding down a very demanding job. We are very grateful to Richard and wish him all the very best in the future."
