The adjudication team of David Read, James Gourlay and David King, were not only impressed by the winners at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, but also of the efforts of all 20 competitors on Kenneth Downie’s ‘Concertino for Brass Band’.

Talking to 4BR after the announcement of the results, the trio expressed delight at the overall standard of the playing on the day, with the interpretation and execution of the slow second movement giving particular satisfaction.
