The current Scottish Champions, Whitburn geared up for their forthcoming assault on the British Open in a few weeks time with their fifth consecutive win at the Land O’ Burns Contest in Troon on the weekend.
More than enough
Conducted by Andrew Duncan, they proved too strong once more for the rest of the field, and although they didn’t quite dust off all the mid summer cobwebs they more than did enough to win the £2,500 first prize from adjudicator, Alan Morrison.

Delight
Andrew told 4BR: "It was a delight to win again at what is a very well organised and now a very well established contest. I'd like to thank all the Whitburn players for their commitment and hard work in the rehearsals, especially as the contest comes so early in the season."
Andy is now looking forward to working with the Scottish Co-op at the British Open and returning to Cornwall to take Mount Charles to the National Finals in October, whilst Whitburn team up with Steven Mead for both Birmingham and London.

Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass produced a fine entertainment programme to come home inn second place, whilst Easington Colliery, fresh from receiving a whopping £10,000 from the ‘Secret Millionaire’ on the Channel 4 television programme finished in third place just ahead of Bon Accord Silver.
