Death of Andrew Hicks

The death of Andrew Hicks, a stalwart of the banding scene in South Wales and the West Country has been announced.

Andrew Hicks, Bandsman, conductor, chef and angler, died of cancer yesterday at the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport.

Widely connected

Andrew was associated with numerous bands in South Wales and the West Country including Tredegar Town, Newbridge Celynen, Bratton Silver, Thornbury, Dursley, Blaenavon Concert, Pontypool and Ebbw Vale to name just a few.

Funeral details

The main service is at 2.00pm Friday 29th August 2008 at St Cadoc's Church Trevethin Pontypool followed by a short service at Croesyciliog Crematorium Cwmbran.

Members of Pontypool Band will be playing and anyone who wishes to join them for the service will be welcome.
