After an absence of thirty years, the Cross Keys Silver Band recently competed at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in Cardiff and came away with the Fourth Section title.
The Visit
Apart from the band being broadcast live on the welsh language channel, S4C, they were also the subject of the ITV Wales programme 'The Visit', which followed the progress of the band from rehearsals, though the performance, the results, and of course, the celebrations.
Adjudicator Kevin Gibbs was very impressed not only with the bands playing, but also with it's choice of programme, which included 'Liberty Fanfare', Alan Morrison's 'Georgia on my Mind', played by principal cornet, Karla Howe, 'Hey Jude' and Andrew Duncan's arrangement of 'Highland Cathedral' to finish.

Over the moon
Musical Director, Kerry Bowden was over the moon with both the performance and the result, and commended the professionalism of the band from the youngest players to the oldest, and couldn't believe the interest generated by the the broadcast!
Harrogate
The band are now looking forward to competing at the Wychaven Contest and to it's third successive appearance at the Lower Section National Finals in Harrogate.
