The Lydbrook Band has led the congratulations given to their popular Bb Bass player, Jon Daw, whose 50 years of brass band dedication and commitment has been recognised by the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association.

Jon started his brass band journey in 1971 in Dursley where he soon picked up the tuba.

Banding travels

In 1974 he joined Fourth Section Stinchcombe Silver Band before moving to Thornbury to be part of their rise to the Championship Section. He later enjoyed tenures at Jaguar Cars (City of Coventry) and Flowers, where he played for 23 years. He also enjoyed further spells at Filton Concert Brass and Staffordshire Band before joining Lydbrook in January 2025.

Hugely respected, he has notched up 24 National Final and 10 British Open appearances with the hope of many more successes to come with Lydbrook.
