The growing depth of excellence of the brass band culture in Germany will be highlighted at the National Championships in Augsburg later this month.
It will see the top section debut of Brass Band NRW directed by Dutch euphonium soloist and conductor Robbert Vos.
Founded by Martin Schadlich in 2008 as Germany's first state-wide youth brass band, it brought together talented young musicians from across North Rhine-Westphalia.
Fiurther opportunities
Brass Band NRW was set up from it in 2022 with the aim of giving musicians of all ages further opportunities to perform at the highest possible level. After several rehearsal phases, the band presented its first public concert programme in 2023 and made its contesting debut at the Dutch Open.
The band also performed at the German Open in 2025, but is now set to make its National Championship top-section debut.
At the contest they will be up against defending champion 3BA Concert Brass, who earlier this year came fourth at the European Championships in Linz, as well as former European Challenge Section winners, Brass Band Regensburg.
Honoured
Speaking about looking forward to directing the band, Robbert Vos told 4BR: "Since its foundation, Brass Band NRW has been under the musical direction of Martin Schadlich and I'm honoured to be asked to conduct them at this event."
