The second series of 'Brass Banding with Hannah Peel' is set to return to BBC Radio 3 this weekend.
It has been commissioned following the success of last year's first 10-part series, which brought an eclectic choice of brass band related music to new audiences.
National start
Nine new episodes will now be aired — starting on Sunday 4th October (9.15pm), with a programme that will also broadcast the moment this year's National Champion was revealed, but also looks at what it takes to win the event.
2025 Champion Desford Colliery Band is featured as they talk about their famous win and as they prepare for the contest, whilst the music heard from Black Dyke Band's recent Proms appearance, music from composer Philip Sparke and work inspired by an imagined ballet.

Hannah meets adjudicator Annie Crookston and learns how to choose a winner.
Music sees Coco Chanel, Katrina Marzella-Wheeler and the cooperation band guide listeners through the dramatic story of the opening night of Igor Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring'.
Episode 3: Reversing Cars and Falling Fridges
Hannah drops into the famous McQueen's repair workshop, meeting the experts bringing instruments back to life from neglect or accident.
Future episodes
Future episodes will include interviews with composer Simon Dobson, Flowers percussionist Coco Chan, Nina Marten (winner of the NYBBGB Young Composer's Competition 2025), 4BR Editor Iwan Fox, and members of Easington Colliery Band who collaborated with Sam Fender on his Mercury prize winning album.
