Rossini's 'Kyrie' is the opening movement of his final major composition, 'Petite Messe Solennelle', and has been arranged for brass band by David Robb.

This distinctly atmospheric piece opens with an enigmatic melody creating a dark and distinctive theme that develops into a lighter, more sacred sound world. Echoes of the opening motif return towards the conclusion, bringing the arrangement to an emotive close.
