The Camborne Band has confirmed the appointment of Kevin Mackenzie as its new Musical Director. It follows the recent news that Gareth Churcher had stepped down from the role.

Success

No stranger to the organisation, Kevin previously enjoyed a successful tenure as Resident Conductor leading the Cornish band to a top-six finish at the Royal Albert Hall National Final and conducting them throughout its landmark 175th anniversary celebrations.

The appointment comes ahead of major performances at the Proms at the Minack Theatre and Truro Cathedral, with the band telling 4BR that they were delighted to make the appointment with a musician who has, "a strong understanding of the band's culture, ambitions, and musical standards."

Speaking about his appointment, Kevin said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed playing the euphonium again over the past few years, but I'm delighted to return as MD with Camborne.

Having enjoyed considerable conducting experience with them I look forward to the challenge of maintaining those high standards while continuing to develop and build on past achievements."
