Cory has confirmed the appointment of Cerys Nicholson as its new flugel horn player.

The signing completes a hat-trick of recent signings ahead of a busy period of concerts, competitions and international appearances for the Welsh champion.

Accolades

The Courtois artist started playing with Abergynolwyn Silver Band before later switching to flugel with Royal Oakeley Silver and going on to become principal flugel with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales.

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama graduate gained further acclaim performing with City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) M1, Tongwynlais Temperance and Aldbourne, before joining Tredegar in 2024, where she gained further high-profile plaudits and personal accolades.

Having recently married Cory BBb Bass player Rob Nicholson, her move marks a new chapter both personally and musically and completes Cory's busy summer recruitment that has seen the appointment of Megan Newbery on cornet and Jack Wilson on soprano.

Delighted

Speaking about her move, Cerys said: "I'm delighted to be joining and really excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. Having recently worked with the band at the World Music Contest, I had the chance to experience their exceptional musical standards and team spirit, which made me even more excited about becoming part of the organisation.
